Nutcracker or bust (I think I'll bust)

For some deranged reason, I suggested to the girls teachers that we take all 30 Pre-Ker's to downtown Memphis to see the Nutcracker ballet. Fast forward 2 weeks and we are loading onto a rental greyhound with 26 4/5 year old kids, 23 parents (impressive ... huh ????) and 3 teachers. Nana tagged along also but drove separately.... smart lady.

When I was growing up, my Mom would take the girls in our family to the Nutcracker. We would get all dressed up and go to the fancy theater downtown. It was always a very special treat. Even when we were broke she would still find a way. This year I was determined to take her and my girls but realized it was the same weekend as the St. Jude marathon. So ... the next best thing (and much cheaper option) was to make it a field trip.

We had great seats .. center row about 8 rows from the stage at the same beautiful theater I went to as a kid (totally different view of the stage compared to the cheap seats we are accustomed to:). The kids were as well behaved as they could be ... considering we were 45 minutes early. They LOVED the first half of the ballet but were bored and hungry after the intermission. Overall, I think it was a success. If anything, I thinks most of the kids will always remember this field trip.  I really enjoyed watching my Mom watch Hassie Clare and Quinn "ooouu" and "ahhhh" at all the dancers. She was beaming with happiness and that made it all worth it for me!

This little handsome dude has a crush on HC. His mom told me that he talks about her muscles all the time. A lot of people comment on her muscular physique but he "really" likes them. When I asked her about him she said, "I don't want to be his friend because he is always getting in trouble. And he does things at school to try and make me laugh to get me in trouble!"  Ahhh ... puppy love.
