We celebrated my wonderfully loving and beautiful Mother's 68th birthday. My siblings (see pic below) and I (along with our spouses) surprised her with a beach trip (we head out next week). The last time we all went on a beach vacation together was 33 years ago. I was 5. My Dad and brother got a horrible sun burn and I got stung by a jelly fish and ended up at the ER. Let's hope this vacation goes much better!

We took a trip up to Missouri for an event filled weekend. One of Jamie's Aunt is battling breast cancer and the community hosted a rather impressive 5k benefit with food and a silent action. Some of our friends came out to support the benefit and walk with us in the 5k. It was a great way to spend a Sat. morning!

You always have to stop during the race for pics ... right?

That is a police escort behind our crew because we are special ... not because we were the very last ones in the race.

Who would have thought these two goof balls (Jamie & Benji) would be pushing strollers at 7:30am in a 5k!
That evening we played in a family, friendly (yeah right) poker game. I was the big winner which NEVER happens. I may or may not be considered family anymore.
We started the next day by going to Mass with the Hammer's and to celebrate Morgan's birthday. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning. The girls also got to see a few of their cousins (Riley and Madison).

To finish off the weekend we showered Aunt Jodie and her boyfriend with gifts during a baby shower. Maema threw a lovely shower. We are all excited to meet Isabella who should join us sometime in June!

We have been super busy with softball. My assistant coach (the one that actually knows how to teach youngin's about softball) had to have unexpected surgery and will be out the rest of the season. Plus it is freakin' hot outside already. Between the heat and pulling most of the weight on the field my enjoyment level of coaching has decreased greatly but we are hanging in there. Hassie Clare and Quinn are both doing much better then I ever expected at coach pitch softball. I thought 5 was way too young to not hit off a tee but all the girls on my team have shocked me. Hassie Clare smacks the ball every time she gets up to bat and plays almost every position well. Quinn is awesome at 3rd base and stops everything that comes her way - she is a natural at fielding. She struggles with hitting the ball. She either strikes out or hits a home run. Go figure! Here are some action shots one of the grandma's on the team sent me.
